This post covers my journey to the following destinations: San Francisco and Los Angeles over a period of seven days.
Day One:
Los Angeles (LA)
The Flight makes a touch down at Los Angeles International Airport at 12 noon from where we head to Orange County is roughly 40 miles or 65 km.Travel time about 45-60 minutes in normal traffic.
There isn't much to travel during the first day as we wanted to conserve energy to build upon what would be too much to cover in short time.
So will list down here a few facts (rather obvious facts) about LA:
The Currency: US Dollar
Coins:
Bank Notes:
Languages Spoken: English and Spanish
Day Two:
Its time for drive across to San Francisco; about nine hours drive time we start in the afternoon and make an overnight stop at Gilroy.
Day Three:
We begin our journey towards San Francisco another two hours drive.
After reaching our destination and having our lunch break; we head to fisherman's wharf after exploring the water front we take a ferry to Sausalito which is about 30 minutes travel time.
You can see the waterfront area by simply walking around.
If you have the time by your side you can explore the town by bike.
We head back to Bay of San Francisco and en route capture some beautiful photos of Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.
Day Four:
Today on our agenda is trip to two destinations which if not visited it is said that you have not seen San Francisco.
The first on the list is Zig Zag Road alias "crookedest street" located on Lombart Street; the street comprises of eight curves.
There are stairs on both the side of the street which is the best way to experience the "crookedest street" in the world.
A view from the top of Lombard street
Next on the List the Golden Gate Bridge:
One of the internationally recognised symbols of San Francisco.
The bridge opened in 1937 is a suspension bridge which links the city with Marin County.
The bridge has got two walkway; one of the east side and one on the west.
If using public transport there are two bus services: the San Francisco Muni Line and Golden Gate Transit.
The evening is spent travelling around china town for shopping.
Day Five:
Driving back to Los Angeles start at 11 am and we reach there by 6 pm.
Day Six:
We spent time shopping at Citadel Outlets which consists of around 115 stores and restaurants and is located on interstate 5 at Atlantic Boulevard North about 25 minutes north of Anaheim
Opened Seven days a week 10 am to 9 pm
There are express shuttle buses from Anaheim to Citadel outlets.
Day Seven:
The final day of the stay is marked by visit to a beach (I cant't recollect the name of the beach), an Hindu Temple (BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir located at Chino Hills, LA) and Disneyland (more of a photo shoot at the entrance than a visit).
The post would be incompletely without thanking Girish Mama, Gita Mami, Sapna and Neel; my extended family who made me feel like being at home away from home.
