Bali is an Island which is part of Indonesia.

The Climate is pleasant year around and thus making it a busy tourist destination.

Most of whom will enter through the Denpasar International Airport.

Type of Visa:

You can get the visa on arrival or obtain the visa in advance else if you are eligible for visa waiver program the same is not required mostly for ASEAN nationals like Macau, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand and Malaysia .

   

Beautiful Bangalore

Located in State of Karnataka, India; also known as the Garden City and the Silicon Valley of India as it hosts most of the IT Companies.

Recently been renamed as Bengaluru; although both names continue to be used.

Known for its pleasant climate year around with rainy season between June to August.

The City's Airport is located 40 miles from central business district and 30 miles from main railway station.

You can reach the city from the Airport through buses or pre-paid taxis.

For travel within the city the best way is to take a bus; kempegowda bus stand also known as majestic bus stand located close to main railway station.

The buses can be really crowded during rush hours otherwise its very easy mode of travel to explore the city during non rush hours.

You can also use alternative modes of transport like auto and taxis.

Places to visit:

ISKCON Hari Krishna Temple: Built on top of hill at Rajajinagar with scenic view of the city

Shiva Temple: The temple has a massive statue of Lord Shiva in the middle of artificial pool and the entrance is free but camera charges are INR 25.

Lal Bagh Botanical Garden: Hosts a large lake inside the premises, located centrally in the city and covers a massive area with abundant greenery and flowers.

 



         

Must See Places in the World

Salar De Uyuni:


  • A salt flat land in Bolivia better known as the largest mirror in the world.
  • Located in Potosi and Oruro localities in South West Bolivia.
  • It has a train Cemetery which is one of the most popular attractions among the tourist.
  • Best time to visit is during rains when the clear water on the flat land makes this place world's largest mirror.

Sagano Bamboo Forest:


  • Located in Arashiyama district near Kyoto, Japan.
  • One of the interesting fact is the sound that the wind makes when it blows through the bamboos.
  • There is walking path that cuts through the forest thus providing a pleasant trek to the tourists.
  • Bamboos of the forest are used to manufacture various products like boxes, baskets and mats in the area.


Wisteria Flower Tunnel:

  • Located in City of Kitakyushu, Japan
  • Main attraction of the Kawachi Fuji Garden
  • Best time to visit April to May


Mendenhall Ice Caves:


  • Located 12 miles down town from Juneau in Alaska
  • Ice Caves are inside the glacier only mode of access is by Kayak  
  • You can witness every stage of water cycle here
  • The glacier has receded by 2 miles since 1958


Tunnel of Love:


  • Located in Klevan, Ukraine
  • This is a railway section which delivers goods thrice a day to nearby factory
  • The green corridor attracts many tourists especially couples.


Blagaj:


  • Located in Herzegovina Neretva Canton of Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Situated at spring of Buna river
  • Characterised by diversity of above ground and under ground water

Plitvice Lake:


  • Croatia's most popular tourist attraction
  • Located between Zagreb and Zadar
  • Highlight is that sixteen lakes are inter connected by series of waterfalls
  • Height difference between all the lakes is 135 metres    


    

Vaadhoo Island:


  • Located in Maldives known as heaven on earth
  • Best view is during night time
  • Shining water looks like mirror due to the reflection of stars above
  • Caused due to marine microbes - Phytoplankton which are bio luminescent and emit blue glow

Socotra: 

  • A remote island off the coast of Yemen
  • Considered as jewel of bio diversity in Arabian Sea
  • Island hosts of rare species of plants, reefs and trees not found anywhere else in the world
  • Also boasts of Dragon Blood Tree
 


New @ New York

I arrive at Newark International Airport:

We take the NY transit train to reach the New York Penn Station from where we take the metro E line to get down at 63rd Rego Park

Since we reach our destination in the evening we decided to take rest and explore the city the next day.

Next Day its time to explore the Island City sneak through a few attractions and the first on list is:

Times Square is accessible through MTA Subway 42nd Street; the busy shopping district with illuminated signs.

The square located between 42nd Street to 47th Street has more tourists than residents present at the square.

A 5 minute walk from times square is Empire State Building located at intersection of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street; an 103 storey sky scrapper which was once the world's tallest building.

The biggest attraction is the observatory deck located at 86 the floor providing a 360 degree view of the city.

There are five lines to the observatory deck: side walk line, lobby elevator line, second elevator line, ticket purchase line and the line to get onto the observatory deck.

The fee for the Main Deck located at 86th Floor is USD 29 for Adult, USD 26 for seniors above 62 years and USD 23 for Child between 6 to 12 years.

You can skip the line and reach the main deck if you are ready to shell out USD 50 more.

If you want to visit the main deck and top deck located at 102nd Floor; the fees are:

Adult: USD 46
Senior (62 years +): USD 43
Child (6 to 12 years): USD 40

You can skip the line and reach both the main and top deck if you are ready to shell out USD 67.

Next up is Liberty Island; from 34th Street take the R line and get down at Whitehall Street.

If arriving by bus; you have three options M5, M15 and M20 which stop at South Ferry.

The timings are:

The first ferry departs from Mainland at 9:00 am and last ferry at 3:30 pm; the final ferry from Liberty Island departs at 5:00 pm; the ferries are open for longer time during spring.

You should also factor in time require to clear security screening and waiting time to board the ferry.

The Fees are:

Ferry Fees USD 9 for Children between age of 4 to 12 years

USD 18 for adults aged 13+ and USD 14 for seniors aged 62+.

Crown access charge USD 3 and there is no extra fee for pedestal access

Next up Central Park accessible through metro from 59th Street, Fifth Avenue.

This is the place where you find various flora and fauna and reservoirs.

The most visited recreational ground where you can see all the new yorkers.
  
Next day we take two day tour to Niagara Falls; there are pick up points from flushing mall which takes you to china town and from there you proceed onwards to the 428 Miles journey.

On the way there are various excursions which makes journey time of approx 10 hours.

Since we visited during the end of winter we had a stopover at Corning Glass Museum where you can learn the art of glass making.

The fees are USD 16 for adults and free if you are aged 19 or below; the rates are almost half if you are local resident; open from 9 am to 5 pm in winter time (hours extended in summer).

You should not miss the hot glass show if you happen to visit the museum.          

We reach the city of Niagara falls by 5 pm and have stop at mall where you get cuisines from all over the world; India Food, Chinese Food, Greek Food, Italian Food and American Food.

We reach around sunset time to catch glimpse of the falls (quite cold for end of winter) barely able to take my gloves off to catch some pictures.


  
.     We are kept at Hotel Inn, Buffalo about 30 minute drive way from the City of Niagara Falls.

Next day, the first excursion on the list is to the Old Fort located on mouth of Lake Ontario; if you got good binoculars you can even see the skyline of the City at the other end of Lake.

The hours of operation are 9 am to 5 pm from January to June and September to December.

The hours are extended by two hours from July to August i.e. from 9 am to 7 pm.

Admission Rates are:

Adult USD 12

Children (6 to 12 years) USD 8

Free if you are below 5 years

What to do at the Fort; explore the original building where the soldiers were based and if you want a souvenir the museum shop is where you should be headed to.

There are even two characters who play the role of British and French soldiers who play their 18th century roles gleefully for the audiences.

 
                  
Second excursion for the day is a visit to Robert Moses Power Plant an hydro electric power station which uses Niagara river for power generation shared by both USA and Canada.

We spent half an hour there before moving back to morning visit to Niagara falls a much warmer time and took a long walk to see the bride falls and horse shoe falls and use the binocular to catch a glimpse of Toronto on the other side of the falls.

Few attractions while at the falls:

Niagara Adventure Falls Adventure Movie tells the history of human interaction with the falls their stories told on 45 foot wide screen has an run time of 45 minutes (Fess USD 12 for adult and USD 8 for child of 3 -12 years) an optional part of tour.

Maid of the Mist: The best opportunity for the tourist to get up close and personal with falls.(Fess USD 11 for adult and USD 9.90 for child under 11 years) an optional part of tour.

Although I was told it is operational only in summers and not in winters.

The best way to experience the falls is through the Maid of the Mist and see the falls from the Canadian side the best view is from there.

We depart back to New York and reach there by 9 pm and depart back home by next day.

California Calling

This post covers my journey to the following destinations: San Francisco and Los Angeles over a period of seven days.

Day One:

Los Angeles (LA)

The Flight makes a touch down at Los Angeles International Airport at 12 noon from where we head to Orange County is roughly 40 miles or 65 km.Travel time about 45-60 minutes in normal traffic.

There isn't much to travel during the first day as we wanted to conserve energy to build upon what would be too much to cover in short time.

So will list down here a few facts (rather obvious facts) about LA:

Day Two:

Its time for drive across to San Francisco; about nine hours drive time we start in the afternoon and make an overnight stop at Gilroy.

Day Three:

We begin our journey towards San Francisco another two hours drive.

After reaching our destination and having our lunch break; we head to fisherman's wharf after exploring the water front we take a ferry to Sausalito which is about 30 minutes travel time.

You can see the waterfront area by simply walking around.

If you have the time by your side you can explore the town by bike.

We head back to Bay of San Francisco and en route capture some beautiful photos of Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.





          
Day Four:

Today on our agenda is trip to two destinations which if not visited it is said that you have not seen San Francisco.

The first on the list is Zig Zag Road alias "crookedest street" located on Lombart Street; the street comprises of eight curves.

There are stairs on both the side of the street which is the best way to experience the "crookedest street" in the world.

Next on the List the Golden Gate Bridge:

One of the internationally recognised symbols of San Francisco.

The bridge opened in 1937 is a suspension bridge which links the city with Marin County.

The bridge has got two walkway; one of the east side and one on the west.

If using public transport there are two bus services: the San Francisco Muni Line and Golden Gate Transit.



      
The evening is spent travelling around china town for shopping.

Day Five:

Driving back to Los Angeles start at 11 am and we reach there by 6 pm.

Day Six:

We spent time shopping at Citadel Outlets which consists of around 115 stores and restaurants and is located on interstate 5 at Atlantic Boulevard North about 25 minutes north of Anaheim

Opened Seven days a week 10 am to 9 pm

There are express shuttle buses from Anaheim to Citadel outlets.

Day Seven:

The final day of the stay is marked by visit to a beach (I cant't recollect the name of the beach), an Hindu Temple (BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir located at Chino Hills, LA) and Disneyland (more of a photo shoot at the entrance than a visit).
