Short visit to Pune

I had been to Pune from Mumbai for a 20 hour stay to visit my friend; this post chronicles the places that we saw in the short trip to Pune.

I reached Pune in the evening and the only visit for the evening was at Magarpatta City a well planned township which houses some wonderful residential societies, IT Companies and a food mecca known as the Destination Centre.

This place provides you with all the delicious delicacies of Pune.

After having dinner and exploring the Magarpatta City we head to my friends house to call it a day.

Next morning after having nice rest and some breakfast we begin our tour of the city covering the following destinations:

1. Aga Khan Palace:

A very clean Palace with a rich history this is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned and spent some years and where Mrs. Kasturba Gandhi breathed her last and houses her samadhi.

2. Saras Baug

A temple dedicated to Lord  Ganesha has a marvellous garden and aptly complimented by beautiful lake.

3. Shaniwar Wada

A fort built by Shivaji Maharaj which lies in ruins although its does have an impressive sound and light show in evening.

4. Bund Garden

A jogging park actually and it it at best worth giving a miss unless you want to do jogging.

5.  Dagduseth Temple

A famous temple in Pune usually crowded and you need lot of spare time as it it known to have long queues; since we had limited time on our hand we saw the temple from outside.

6.  Parvati Hill Temple

Situated at a Hill Lock gives a good glimpse of the entire city; nice place to capture scenery.

You do need to climb about 100 steps so the best time to visit is early morning or around sunset time.

Tips:

  • The city being quite huge is best travelled through a rickshaw as it saves time and you can cover more attractions

  • The aforesaid attractions were covered in 5 hours from 8 a.m.to 1 p.m.
